My Story

Article by Simon Perkin 26.10.15

Did you know that Warwick family man, Simon Perkin (now working with JuicePLUS) recently competed in the British Transplant Games, just 3 years after having, not one but two rounds of intensive chemotherapy and two bone marrow transplants. He won a Gold Medal in the 1500 metres and Silver in the 5K.
Simon had been diagnosed with Blood Cancer and his only hope of a cure was a bone marrow transplant. This was only made possible by the fantastic work of the charity, Anthony Nolan, who found him a match from a kind German donor.
Simon had a punishing 138 days in isolation in hospital and suffered major complications and setbacks, including glandular fever and shingles. For over a year, he was not able to mix socially because of risk of infection. Simon’s life was on hold and he was fearful of the future.
This all changed when he was introduced to the best and most scientifically researched whole food nutritional product on the planet, known as JuicePLUS.

This long established product with so much Gold Standard science behind it, is the choice of many top athletes and families all over the world – it’s simply fruits, vegetables and berries in a capsule and full of only goodness for our bodies. The whole food capsules are taken daily, in addition to a well balanced diet.
Simon is living proof of the many benefits of JuicePLUS. Within less than 15 months of taking JuicePLUS, Simon completed the London Marathon in 3 hours 31 minutes. He remains completely in remission, full of energy and continues to amaze his doctors and medics, because he remains completely free of infection and is so healthy.
I would recommend you take a look at what nurses are saying in this 6 minute video https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GDkpJ3HBKgY and place your order before the winter sets in and it’s too late. If you order via Simon, he will arrange for children or grandchildren to get the product absolutely free – how good is that ? Check out http://www.simonperkin.webs.com

8 Bookkeeping Top Tips.

Article by Rebecca Mason 21.10.15

Bookkeeping is probably not the most exciting part of running your own business, or, community group. However, it is a crucial component and cannot be ignored. In order to make bookkeeping a little less daunting, here are 8 bookkeeping tips.

1. Record all your sales and purchases that are “wholly and exclusively for business” use from day one of trading. This can be in a spreadsheet or specialist software. In some circumstances, you may have expenses before this, so keep a record of these too. They can be deducted from your profits and will reduce your tax liability. Remember, if you use it for your business you can claim for stamps, stationary, bus and train tickets, fuel, etc. If you use your home as an office you can claim for proportion of your domestic bills.

2. Use a business bank account. Use this account for business transactions only. If you need money for yourself, transfer it from your business account in the appropriate form of drawings/salary/dividends/reimbursed expenses to your personal account.

3. Set aside time each week to manage your finances and update your records.

4. Review your cash flow regularly. Cash flow for small businesses can fluctuate, which means it needs to be regularly monitored. This way you can avoid insufficient fund charges by researching financing options in advance and making sure all of your debts are covered.

5. Reconcile bank statements monthly. Even if you regularly review your cash flow statement and your bank statement separately, they should still be double-checked and reconciled. This will help you quickly spot discrepancies.

6. Follow-up on past due invoices. A majority of your clients will pay on time, but you will always encounter a few who take longer than agreed. Regularly running an account receivable report will help you identify these clients sooner, so you can follow-up with a professional reminder.

7. Budget for taxes. These are usually paid at set intervals during the financial year, so you need to have sufficient funds to pay them once they are due.

8. Hire a bookkeeping service once bookkeeping starts taking up too much of your time.

5 Reasons why we all should pick up a book

Article by Rachael Richardson-Bullock 07.10.15

I am part of everything that I have read- Theodore Roosevelt

I have always enjoyed reading. This is something I’m told comes from the grandfather I never met. Over the years books have brought me so much joy; but more than that books have offered me insight, excitement and have challenged me in ways I never thought possible. So here is my 5 reasons why we all should pick up a book.

1.) Knowledge is power

Everyone knows this phrase but it is actually true! Books open up a world of knowledge and experience that we might not have the opportunity to encounter. You can read up on events you will never see and hear about the lives of those you will never meet. You can learn a language, find out how to play tennis or experience the sinking of the Titanic. The idea here is that the world is your oyster. Anything you want to know, you can learn, in a way previously unimaginable for our grandparents or even our parents’ generation. Before, if you wanted to find an answer to a question you would need to head to the library. Now, Google can help you, or you can download the book you want from Amazon instantly. We can educate ourselves anytime we please and that is a wonderful opportunity!

2.) Get some me time!

Curling up with a good book is a great way to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the day to day rat race; to enjoy some quiet time. Reading is often recommended for relaxation as it can help you to reduce stress by taking a step back. Allowing yourself to be present in the moment and being involved with the story will help to focus and calm your mind.

3.) You can read anywhere!

So when I say books, I mean books, hardbacks, softbacks, Kindles, tablets, laptops, phones-with modern technology you can enjoy a book anywhere you go. You can read at work (it took me 16 months to read Les Miserables over the course of my lunch breaks!), at home, on holiday, the possibilities are endless and all options are convenient and practical.

4.) Source of endless entertainment

Books, like films, tv shows and video games can provide endless entertainment. And there are so many genres and styles to choose from you can easily find a book to suit you. Also, mixing up your choices of entertainment ensures you are intellectually stimulated and encourages you to use your imagination. Imagination can often take a step back in favour of vegging out hunched over your smart phone watching funny fail compilations (I know I’m guilty!) but taking the time to read will offer a rich and varied experience.

5.) Exploring life’s big questions

By far, the best thing about reading books is the clarity and wisdom they can bring. Books can provide a mirror, a window, a means in which we can learn more about ourselves and articulate our feelings about life.

I have experienced this myself, in particular with Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami. One of my lecturers from university contacted me via Facebook asking for my address. I asked why and he told me he had just finished a book, which made him think of me. So he sent it to me (random reason number 6 is that books can be quite social-giving, receiving and talking about books is great fun!) Intrigued, I read it immediately and it did not disappoint; it was moving, insightful and beautifully written. My mother was very ill at the time and Murakami’s musings about death helped me to get through:

Death exists, not as the opposite but as a part of life. It’s a cliché translated into words, but at the time I felt it not as words but as that knot of air inside me…until that time I had understood death as something entirely separate from and independent of life…life is here, death is over there. I am here, not over there…it was already here, within my being, it had always been here…death was a fact, a serious fact, no matter how you looked at it. Stuck inside this suffocating contradiction, I went on endlessly spinning in circles. Those were strange days, now that I look back at them. In the midst of life, everything was about death.

I went on a fantastic journey with this book and many others, and hope to read many more and I hope I’ve encouraged you to read so too!

Protein Shakes……..Do they work?

Article by Simon Perkin 21.09.15

If you know of anyone who does protein shakes, it might be worth asking them to consider…..

1. Why ?
2. What is in them ?
3. Is there any science behind the product you buy ?
4. Have you seen the proof ?
5. Does the shake include diary or whey protein ?
6. Have you ever wondered why whey protein is so cheap ?

Conclusion – Olympic athletes, including the German, Swiss & Austrian teams take JuicePLUS & would not be seen dead taking whey protein because they want the best quality to perform at the very best = world class. Ask yourself – do you put the correct fuel (petrol & oil) in your car ? What happens if you get it wrong ? Is your body any different ?  Time to take a look at the best thing that works & improves recovery & the immune system – backed by more Gold Standard Scientific Research than any other nutritional product on the Planet – BUY NOW www.simonperkin.webs.com 🙂

Do you want your business to survive or THRIVE?

Article by Tom Manning 02.09.15

The question is WHY?

Why do you have your business, or why are you in this job? why are you doing what you are doing? Why grow your business?

Never stop asking this question until you have a deeply fulfilling answer, do not accept anything less than that – because ultimately finding that answer and fulfilling it is our greatest purpose here.

We are here to learn, grow, be happy and to thrive – what else is there to do here?

What do we need to learn?  We must learn what is means to be human, what it means to love and care for other human beings, and what it means to be deeply contented, deeply happy, to see each and every day as a gift, because this is the TRUTH.

Does that come easily? Nope, we must apply the laws of happiness consistently over and over until we EXPERIENCE this truth.

Why does this have anything to do with your business?

Because your business is just a way to help fulfil this purpose, and if it isn’t why the hell are you doing it?  To survive?  Thats pretty rubbish – why would you settle for that?  Why would you accept that for yourself?

You might say you have your business to create wealth – but to what end?  I’m not saying don’t create wealth, what I am saying is that if you do not have a greater purpose then the wealth, ultimately, is paradoxically worthless.

So what to do then?

LEARN and GROW!! and help others do the same

To learn and grow we must first make a mistake, before we can be old and wise, we must first be young and stupid 🙂

Every day I am making mistakes, and only a few years ago I was deeply afraid people would find out, I was ashamed of my mistakes, and I was ashamed of the fact that I was afraid – what a lonely and miserable way to live – and yet to the outside world I “appeared” to be a confident, bright, energetic, positive, outgoing person – what a sham – I was just hiding from the world behind a mask.

The truth is, so are most people – alone, ashamed, and afraid – not to get morbid – but I stand for the truth not for telling people what they want to hear – which does not support growth

Lets get to the point – we don’t have to live like this, life can be a joyful exploration of ourselves, it can be fun and delightful every single moment, but we have to find someone we can TRUST to really be ourselves with, to show our mistakes and our flaws, to tell them what we are afraid of, what we are ashamed of – if there is nobody in your life that knows these things, then there is nobody in your life that really knows you.

So – now you have read this far you have a wondrous choice to make – if you want to LIVE and to THRIVE read on, if you want to just survive, if living seems too scary then stop now.

Learning to THRIVE……….

You can use your business as a vehicle for change, and it will reward you in ways you could not even comprehend right now – you must create an environment where people can be SAFE and WRONG at the same time, where they are encouraged to admit their mistakes, to share their flaws and their failures, to be ALL that they are – do not ask people to walk in and leave all their “bad” bits at the door, we condemn both of us to unhappiness, instead build your business on TRUST and TRUTH, help them to learn about their mistakes, and when they admit them, care for them, look them in the eyes and say “good for you”, “good for you for admitting your mistakes, and showing us who you really are”

Lets take a real example – Susie, a member of your team, walks in on a Saturday morning having gone out the night before, she does not really want to be there and you can FEEL that, she is acting like a victim and sucking the life out the room.  Imagine you had been learning to see your mistakes and flaws including your behaviours for a while as a team, AND learning how to admit that and to tell the TRUTH about it – you say to Susie “Hey Susie, you seem a little on edge, would you like to share anything” – Susie, recognising her behaviour says “you know what, I do, I made a choice to go out last night and I feel really tired, but it was my choice and I was irresponsible, I have come in this morning thinking my job is a burden, but actually it is a gift, it pays for me to live and I have been incredible ungrateful” – she has completely exposed herself and you walk up, give her a hug and just say “good for you Susie”

Susie changes almost instantly, and what could have lingered on all day is halted, and you enjoy your time together that day.  She admitted her mistake and her behaviour because 1. she had learnt to SEE it and 2. she felt SAFE to do so – wow – who knew it was just that simple, we make things SO complicated.

And you know, there are people like Susie that come into work all the time acting like victims and sucking the life out the room, and it screws them and it screws you, but the more she admits her behaviour and you accept her as a flawed human being it begins to VANISH, its very cool.

All we ever wanted was to be ALL that we are, warts and all, to be FEARLESSLY human, and to be happy with that, to be content with the fact that we really aren’t perfect, and we don’t need to be either, if our purpose if the learn and grow then we are going to make mistakes ALL the time, and those mistakes WILL get in the way of other people.

When you let people in your company be who they really are, not who they are pretending to be you get ALL of them, and that means the VERY best of them – you simply cannot have the VERY best without accepting ALL of them.

If you are serious about really thriving then read ALL my blogs at www.inspiredchangeuk.com and get in touch – if you want to learn and grow I can point you in the direction of many great resources that can support your learning.

Hope you enjoyed the post and learnt something too.

The Sex Worker…would you employ her?

Article by Ernie Boxall 31.08.15

As a business owner wouldn’t you happily do business with a woman can provide excellent service to clients from the “City.”  A woman who is able to converse on a wide range of topics from art, through dance and on to marketing and high level IT programming. A woman who has achieved some of the highest grades from University. A woman who you must trust with absolute secrecy?

You would do business with a woman who has to be able to plan and schedule her day with military precision and total accuracy, so that no two appointments overshoot. A woman who is comfortable taking charge of a situation or can listen carefully to detail. A woman who loves her job?

I have met such a woman. She is a “Sex Worker,”

So how did I come to know such a sordid, whore? A question I asked myself after spending a weekend with her. And “NO” I did not know at the time what her work was. We had met at an art gallery where she exhibited some of her work and although we had spoken a few times I had no thoughts of any relationship. One evening I was performing poetry and she asked to come along, and she made the evening one of the best I’d had in a long time. Very well dressed and not too much make up, it was a pleasure to escort her into the room. At the end of the evening she drove me home and we simply said good night.

Over the next two weeks we met for coffee and chatted about art, about her love of dancing and her work in technology. It was great to talk to someone with such a wide range of interests. Eventually, she invited me to stay with her down near London and I happily accepted. Yes we had sex and it was outstanding because she was absolutely relaxed and enjoyed everything about making a man comfortable. She offered advice on how best to please her and certainly did all she could to please me. But I’m asking you not to stop reading.

Ask yourself what the hell this has to do with a blog about business?

I go back to my first paragraphs. The lady told me of how she turned to the business after her partner had become abusive and stole many of the paintings she was selling to live. She had to make a very quick decision, in order to be able to carry on living in the accommodation she was renting. As an artist she knew of other women who had worked in the sex industry and believed that it would be a short term solution to a Man-Made problem.

An intelligent woman, she knows that her marketing has to be congruent to attract clients able to afford the fee she set herself. She has to make sure her flat is presentable and most importantly that she is able to get regular checks against STD’s. She has to be as safe as possible and make certain, through questions and on-line research, that her clients are who they say they are. This is where her university skills come in a thorough and detailed business woman. Her Yes or No to an appointment depends upon the research she does.

So, once the client as contacted her through her website she is very detailed and precise about her research into his background, if that checks out there is telephone or e mail contact, where her inter-personal and marketing skills come to the fore. Precise times, dates and arrangements for discretion are made. Her price is agreed and the booking taken.

The client arrives to meet a well-dressed woman or a well-dressed woman arrives to an appointment at hotels or restaurants where her presence raises no comment, because she fits in. Her research has also brought up details of her clients background or work so she has prepared her opening lines to show the client she has taken an interest in him. The ability to hold this conversation is a vital part of her etiquette, as important to her as the sexual side of the exchange. The lady holds qualifications in counselling and psychology which means her listening skills are excellent.

We have to talk about the reason the client has booked her. Most often it is repeat business, satisfied clients who have enjoyed her company in the past. Men who have happy marriages in fact but for whom there is an imbalance in sexual compatibility or through international travel. Sexual opportunity with their partners. Men who have lost their wives to illness or tragedy: Men who have been looking after their partners through degenerative complaints: Men who are in town for a weekend and desire intelligent company and conversation. Men who know that the lady is sexually clean, doesn’t drink alcohol, smoke, do drugs or divulge any information about them. These men are CEO’s, men who could be brought down by scandal. They trust her implicitly. They trust her honesty and the fact that she is authentic in her enjoyment of connecting with people. They pay well for an hour, two hours or up to an evening with her willingly.

I ask my initial question: If this woman presented herself for a position with her qualifications only, would you employ her? If you then learnt of her qualifications plus the work sheis involved in, would you still employ her?

She is still my friend and I am her safety call. Does that change you impression of me. I’d love to see your comments and arguments.
